MOLLI T1 mapping versus T2 W-SPAIR at 3T: myocardial area at risk measurements and the influence of microvascular obstruction

چکیده
Methods CMR imaging was conducted on a Philips 3T Achieva MRI scanner. T2W-weighted spectral attenuated inversion recovery (T2WW-SPAIR), modified look-locker inversion recovery (MOLLI) T1 mapping and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) sequences were applied as short axis stacks in 10 healthy volunteers and 62 STEMI patients. Receiver operator characteristic (ROC) analysis was applied to calculate a cut-off T1 to to discriminate AAR from normal myocardium. The presence of LGE was used as the positive ROC test state, while healthy myocardium, as measured in volunteers, was used as the negative ROC test state. For comparison with T1 mapping, the AAR was also measured on T2WW images using a threshold signal intensity > 2SD greater than remote. The derived myocardial edema volumes and salvage indices were compared between MVO+ and MVOgroups.

T1 mapping and T2 mapping at 3T for quantifying the area-at-risk in reperfused STEMI patients
BACKGROUND Whether T1-mapping cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) can accurately quantify the area-at-risk (AAR) as delineated by T2 mapping and assess myocardial salvage at 3T in reperfused ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients is not known and was investigated in this study. METHODS 18 STEMI patients underwent CMR at 3T (Siemens Bio-graph mMR) at a median of 5 (4-6...
متن کاملT1 at 1.5T and 3T compared with conventional T2* at 1.5T for cardiac siderosis
BACKGROUND Myocardial black blood (BB) T2* relaxometry at 1.5T provides robust, reproducible and calibrated non-invasive assessment of cardiac iron burden. In vitro data has shown that like T2*, novel native Modified Look-Locker Inversion recovery (MOLLI) T1 shortens with increasing tissue iron. The relative merits of T1 and T2* are largely unexplored. We compared the established 1.5T BB T2* te...
متن کاملMyocardial iron quantification using modified Look-Locker inversion recovery (MOLLI) T1 mapping at 3 Tesla
Background Quantification of myocardial iron overload is critical for the management of patients with hemochromatosis. The effects of excess iron on T1 and T2* relaxation times correlate directly with tissue iron concentration. T2* became the clinical standard at 1.5T as it can be easily obtained in a fast one breath-hold ECG gated multi-echo GRE sequence. At 3T, however, T2* quantification can...
متن کاملShortened Modified Look-Locker Inversion recovery (ShMOLLI) for clinical myocardial T1-mapping at 1.5 and 3 T within a 9 heartbeat breathhold
BACKGROUND T1 mapping allows direct in-vivo quantitation of microscopic changes in the myocardium, providing new diagnostic insights into cardiac disease. Existing methods require long breath holds that are demanding for many cardiac patients. In this work we propose and validate a novel, clinically applicable, pulse sequence for myocardial T1-mapping that is compatible with typical limits for ...
متن کاملAge and sex corrected normal reference values of T1, T2 T2* and ECV in healthy subjects at 3T CMR
BACKGROUND Myocardial T1, T2 and T2* imaging techniques become increasingly used in clinical practice. While normal values for T1, T2 and T2* times are well established for 1.5 Tesla (T) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR), data for 3T remain scarce. Therefore we sought to determine normal reference values relative to gender and age and day to day reproducibility for native T1, T2, T2* mapp...
